Recently, we heard our first glimpse at some of the new songs that will feature in
Frozen 2. One sung by Anna, one by Josh Gad, and another performed by Idina Menzel —
you can check them out here. It's the latter of those which has seemingly become instantly iconic.
Many have drawn comparisons between 'Into the Unknown' and, the Academy Award-winning song of the first
Frozen, 'Let it Go.' Menzel recently participated in an interview with
ET Canada in which she discussed the comparisons between the two songs, making it clear that she doesn't think they're comparable.
The site asked Menzel whether she will be performing another song that's similar in stature to 'Let it Go,' in the upcoming animated sequel. The talented singer and actress said as follows in response.
"I don't know, you know, they keep asking me that. I have two great songs to be honest," the actress teases a second song which we're yet to hear.
"So, I don't know. I just love them. I think they're pretty, they're wonderfully written, but who knows if [they're the new] Let it Go. It's apples and oranges."
It seems that 'Into the Unknown' will be as powerful as 'Let it Go' based on what we've heard of it. We'll just have to wait until nearer to the film's release to find out whether it will take off as much as its predecessor did, though.
Why was Elsa born with magical powers? The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she'll set out on a dangerous but remarkable journey. In “Frozen,” Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In “Frozen 2,” she must hope they are enough.
Frozen 2 is set to arrive in theatres on November 22nd, 2019.
