Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar have unveiled a captivating new trailer for Elio, their major summer release centered on an 11-year-old boy named Elio (Yonas Kibreab). After being whisked away by aliens, Elio travels countless miles across the galaxy, encountering extraterrestrial beings who ultimately help him discover where he truly fits in.

Madeline Sharafian (Sparkshorts), Domee Shi (Bao; Turning Red), and Adrian Molina (Coco) serve as co-directors on the film, with Mary Alice Drumm (Coco) producing. Domee Shi also wrote the screenplay.

Yonas Kibreab (Sweet Tooth; Obi-Wan Kenobi; Slumberland) headlines the voice cast as Elio. He’s joined by Academy Award-winner Zoe Saldaña (Avatar; Guardians of the Galaxy; Star Trek) as Aunt Olga, Remy Edgerly (Shōgun; Turning Red; Baby Shark’s Big Show!) as Glordon, Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond; Finding Nemo; Tangled) as Lord Grigon, Jameela Jamil (The Good Place; She-Hulk: Attorney at Law; DC League of Super-Pets) as Ambassador Questa, and Shirley Henderson (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets; Stan & Ollie; See How They Run) as OOOOO.

Elio marks Pixar’s first major project since last year’s summer blockbuster Inside Out 2, which grossed a staggering $1.699 billion worldwide, solidifying a comeback after several underwhelming releases. It remains to be seen whether Elio will approach those monumental earnings, but it stands a solid chance of at least matching the successful run of Elemental, which brought in over $496.4 million globally against a $200 million production budget.

Looking ahead, 2026 promises to be an even more significant year for Pixar, as two new features are set to arrive. First up will be Daniel Chong’s Hoppers, followed by the hotly anticipated Toy Story 5 in June. Meanwhile, Incredibles 3 is currently in development, though it likely won’t land in theaters until 2027 at the earliest.

Elio hits theaters on June 20!
