Black Adam isn't the only DC superhero Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will be portraying. The Hollywood megastar announced that he will also be voicing Krypto the Super-Dog in Warner Bros.'s upcoming animated feature DC League of Super-Pets.
"Thank you to our long time partners at Warner Bros & DC Comics as well as our writer/director Jared Stern - a very talented man whom I’ve really enjoyed collaborating with," Johnson wrote on Instagram. "From becoming Black Adam to now becoming SUperman's dog, Krypto, it's a privilege to help build our exciting DC Comics Universe."
As Johnson noted, DC League of Super-Pets is being written and directed by Jared Stern. Stern doesn't have much in terms of directing credits (Happy Anniversary), but he did write the screenplay for The Lego Ninjago Movie and wrote four episodes of Netflix's Green Eggs and Ham. Sam Levine, a writer and director of Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero, is also co-directing.
DC League of Super-Pets is, of course, based on the DC Comics team of the same name, which is comprised of super-powered pets. There's Krypto the Superdog, Superman's dog; Streaky the Supercat, Supergirl's cat; Ace the Bat-Hound, Batman's dog; and Jumpa, Wonder Woman's kangaroo. No other stars have been announced but Johnson teased a "killer cast" being lined up for the animated super flick.
DC League of Super-Pets is slated to hit theaters next year on May 20, 2022.
