At the Kids Choice Awards on Saturday, the official trailer for
Dora and the Lost City of Gold debuted, giving us our first look at Paramount's live-action adaptation of the Nickelodeon animated series.
When her parents leave in search of a hidden city made of gold, Dora is sent to the city where she embarks on her most dangerous adventure yet - high school. However, her life in the city is cut short when she and her friends are kidnapped by a group of villains who intend on using Dora's experience in the jungle to help find her parents and the lost city.
It actually looks like a fun and enjoyable adaptation for anyone who grew up watching the beloved animated series.
Having spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents, nothing could prepare Dora (Isabela Moner) for her most dangerous adventure ever – High School. Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego (Jeffrey Wahlberg), a mysterious jungle inhabitant (Eugenio Derbez), and a rag tag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents (Eva Longoria, Michael Peña) and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost city of gold.
Dora and the Lost City of Gold stars Isabela Moner as Dora, Michael Peña and Eva Longoria as her parents, Danny Trejo as Boots the monkey, Jeffrey Wahlberg as Diego, and Benicio del Toro as Swiper the thieving fox.
The adventure begins when
Dora and the Lost City of Gold hits theaters August 2.
