Disney's live-action remake of The Little Mermaid has begun rolling out into theaters, and there's understandably a lot of excitement among fans of the original 1989 classic.

As one of the most beloved animated movies ever produced by the House of Mouse, the hope is that the studio won't drop the ball the same way they did with Disney+'s Pinocchio last year. While it was visually faithful to the 1940 movie, it made some big changes which left viewers scratching their heads.

When it comes to The Little Mermaid, it's already been confirmed that some song lyrics have been altered to better reflect today's world (taking consent into account, for example).

It also has a significantly bigger runtime, clocking in at 52 minutes longer than its animated predecessor! With that in mind, you might be wondering whether there's time for any surprises after the credits roll.

Alas, The Little Mermaid does not have a post-credits scene

While there's nothing extra in the middle or at the end of the movie's credits, it's still worth sticking around to see the names of those who worked hard to bring this story to life on the big screen.

Disney's live-action movies don't typically utilise post-credits scenes, and there's currently no indication that The Little Mermaid will get a sequel. While the animated version got a direct-to-video follow-up called Return to the Sea (along with a prequel titled Ariel's Beginning), the studio's plans have yet to be revealed when it comes to the franchise's live-action future.

Of course, if it is a box office hit, then we're sure a sequel will eventually receive the green light!

The Little Mermaid stars singer and actress Halle Bailey as Ariel, Daveed Diggs as the voice of Sebastian, Jacob Tremblay as the voice of Flounder, Awkwafina as the voice of Scuttle, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Art Malik as Sir Grimsby, Noma Dumezweni as Queen Selina, with Javier Bardem as King Triton, and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula.

Helmed by filmmaker Rob Marshall, the movie opens in theaters on May 26, 2023.
