Everybody knows what to expect from a fantasy princess; she's simply a damsel, imprisoned in a tower, awaiting the arrival of Prince Charming to set her free. It's archaic. The modern takes on Disney's iconic princesses have attempted to rectify the notion that they're nothing but helpless rewards for a knight in shining armour to claim. Brave's Merida, Tangled's Rapunzel, Frozen's Anna and Elsa are just a few examples of modern Disney royalty - they're capable, awesome characters.

However, an artist by the name of Artemii Myasnikov didn't think they've reached their full badass potential just yet. So, ahead of their highly-anticipated team-up in Disney's upcoming animated film Ralph Breaks The Internet, Myasnikov took it upon himself to remake the iconic women as badass, medieval action heroes. His inspiration for such a project was none other than Bean, the protagonist of Matt Groening's recent animated comedy series Disenchantment - as the talented artist explained:

One night, I was watching [Netflix's] Disenchantment with my wife and we started a discussion on what we like/dislike about the main character. One of the things we both liked is how she wasn’t a damsel in distress, unlike most of the princesses in Disney movies.I immediately wanted to draw a Snow White (because to me she’s the most damsel-in-distress-y princess ever) that would be armed, dangerous, and in charge of her own fate. That’s how the sequence started.

Beginning a month ago with Snow White, Myasnikov has re-imagined fifteen princesses total - that's all of 'em.

Check out the amazing fan-art below:

What do you think of the fan-art? Which re-imagining is your favourite?

See all of the princesses together in Ralph Breaks The Internet which arrives in theatres on November 21st.
