Disney’s remakes are taking 2019 by storm as the Disney classic animated films Dumbo, The Lion King, and Aladdin are returning to theaters later this year in brand new live-action formats. While many Disney fans are excited to see some of their favorite Disney characters return to the big screen, some have questioned the need for live-action remakes of the animated originals, especially if the new films make minimal updates to the beloved stories that have already been told.
A fan-made trailer of Aladdin was recently released, giving the classic Disney film an update fans won't see in theaters. The parody trailer depicts the "street rat" edition of Aladdin's rags to riches story and updates the film to appeal to Generation Z fans.
Unlike Disney’s live action remake of Aladdin, which premieres in theaters May 24th, this parody of the original 1992 animated film promises a few things that definitely won’t be featured in the remake, including Aladdin sporting a face tattoo and shotgunning a beer.
While it is unknown who is behind the trailer of Aladdin: Street Rat Edition, it’s clear that they’re talented animators since they've managed to weave in modern elements effortlessly with the traditional Middle Eastern setting of Agrabah.
