After recruiting a plethora of talented actors, production on Disney's live-action Mulan film has officially started. And to honor the occasion, the studio released the first official photo from the highly anticipated movie.
The image in questions puts the focus on the star of the film, Liu Yifei, who is in character as Mulan and striking a pose that makes it clear the female warrior is prepared for action.
Casting directors reportedly met with over a 1,000 actresses for the titular role before choosing Liu Yifei to lead a cast that includes the likes of Donnie Yen, Jason Scott Lee, Rosalind Chao and Jet Li.
Mulan, which has a 2020 release date, will be directed by Niki Caro (The Zookeeper's Wife) with a screenplay from Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Elizabeth Martin, Lauren Hynek.
