With projects like The Little Mermaid and The Sword in the Stone currently in the pipeline, Disney's list of completed and planned live-action remakes is already massive. And based on a new report, it looks like another film has been added to the list.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, the studio is currently developing a new live-action movie based on the 1980s animated series Inspector Gadget, with Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich (Alladin) attached as producers.

The script, meanwhile, will be penned by Saturday Night Live writers Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell, who have also signed on to write the Home Alone reboot for Disney+.

In 1999, Disney released the first live-action Inspector Gadget film, which saw Matthew Broderick tackle the lead role of Jonathan "John" Brown and featured a supporting cast that included Rupert Everett, Joely Fisher and Michelle Trachtenberg
