Disney may be at the forefront of live-action versions of iconic fairy tales, but Sony Pictures is gearing up to throw their hat in the ring with what they hope will be a fresh take on Cinderella, which they have now officially slated to hit theaters on February 5, 2021.
This new take on the classic tale comes from Blockers director Kay Cannon and will see multi-platinum artist Camila Cabello make her feature acting debut, while also contributing original music for the film.
Alongside Cannon and Cabello, Sony's Cinderella also has actor and TV host James Corden, who helped come up with this new spin on the famous character, attached as a producer.
Plot details on the Kay Cannon-helmed Cinderella film are being kept under lock and key, but similar to the original narrative, it will reportedly provide a musical twist on the story of an orphaned girl with a cruel stepmother.
