Detective Pikachu is finally out in theatres. The film features one exciting Legendary Pokemon in the flesh, Mewtwo, but makes reference to many others through Easter Eggs.
When the titular Pokemon and Tim are sat in the boy's childhood bedroom they are surrounded by posters which feature multiple Legendary Pokemon. Latios and Latias from
Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, Rayquaza from
Emerald and Reshiram and Zekrom from
Black and White can all be spotted within this scene.
In a later scene, taking place within Howard Clifford's office, you can spot three statues of Legendaries. Dialga, Palkia, and Arceus are all present here. Further in the film, during the finale which takes place amongst a parade, you'll take notice of balloons based on Mew (from
Pokemon Red and Blue) and Lugia (from
Pokemon Gold and Silver).
As the live-action Pokemon universe continues, following
Detective Pikachu, it'll be interesting to see whether more Legendary Pokemon will make physical appearances - like Mewtwo does in
Detective Pikachu.
Ace detective Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son, Tim, to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry's former Pokémon partner, wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth Detective Pikachu. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to work together, as Tim is the only human who can talk with Pikachu, they join forces to unravel the tangled mystery.
Detective Pikachu is set to arrive in theatres on May 10th, 2019.
