Warner Bros. announced tentative theatrical release dates for a number of upcoming films, one of which is
DC Super Pets.
Slated to hit theaters in summer 2021, upcoming animated film originated as a children's series from
Capstone Publishers with the property also appearing as a series of shorts part of Cartoon Network's DC Nation animated block. As the name suggests, the property focuses on a fictional team of crime-fighting, super-powered pets of a number of DC superheroes - including Superman's dog, Krypto; Batman's dog, Ace the Bat-Hound; and Supergirl's cat, Streaky. Of course, the team has grown over the years to include the pets of many other DC heroes, including Aquaman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, and more.
DC Super Pets will be directed by Jared Stern and Sam Levine, with Stern also assuming scriptwriting duties. It's unclear if the film will follow the premise of any of the previous comics or cartoon series, or if it will be a completely original story.
DC Super Pets will open in theaters on May 21, 2021, kicking off a jam-packed slate of DC blockbusters that includes Matt Reeves'
The Batman (June 25) and
The Suicide Squad (August 6).
