Since starring in Crazy Rich Asians, Henry Golding has quickly rocketed into being one of the most relevant stars in Hollywood. According to a recent report by The Hollywood Reporter, Golding had landed the starring role in an upcoming G.I. Joe film.

There have been two attempts to bring the franchise to the big screen with 2009's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and 2013's G.I. Joe: Retaliation. This time around, though, the upcoming film will only be focusing on one character: Snake Eyes.

The film will simply be called Snake Eyes and Golding will play the titular role. Debuting in the 1980s, Snake Eyes quickly became one of the G.I. Joe franchise's most well-known characters — so it makes sense that a studio would want to capitalise on this popularity.

Robert Schwentke, who is best known for helming the Divergent movies, will direct Snake Eyes. Evan Spiliotopoulos is responsible for the film's script and it's currently set to arrive in theatres on October 16th, 2020.

Snake Eyes will arrive in theaters on October 16, 2020.
