Get ready for the next big adventure. Paramount Pictures announced that its live-action film Clifford the Big Red Dog is coming to the big screen on September 17. Accompanying the announcement was a brand new trailer.
As previously teased, Clifford will be brought to life with CG-animation for the obvious reasons that he's a) red, and b) a giant, larger than life dog. The film seems to follow the overall premise of the Scholastic book series as Clifford and middle-schooler Emily Elizabeth take on the Big Apple in a family-friendly adventure.
More specifically, Emily Elizabeth (played by Darby Camp) meets a magical animal rescuer (John Cleese) who gifts her the little, red puppy. One night, she makes a wish that Clifford with big and strong and that no one could hurt them. Well, her wish appears to come true as she wakes up to find Clifford has grown massive in size.
Naturally, raising a giant ten-foot dog in a small New York City apartment presents its own set of problems. With her single mom (Sienna Guillory) away on business, Emily and her uncle Casey (Jack Whitehall) take on New York and "teach the world how to love big."
Clifford the Big Red Dog hits theaters on September 17. There's no mention of it premiering simultaneously on any streaming service.
