Two decades after organizing a feathery union and flying the coop, the heroes of Chicken Run are making a triumphant comeback later this year.
The stop-motion classic's long-awaited sequel, Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, is set to debut on Netflix later this year. Thanks to a new book listed on Barnes & Noble, we not only have a new look at the movie's characters but also confirmation that it will "be released on Netflix in December 2023."
The follow-up will revisit the iconic Ginger (Thandiwe Newton) and Rocky (Zachary Levi) - plus a flock of friends and family members, including The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey - as they face (and fight) an all-new threat to chickenkind.
Now, though, they have a daughter, Molly, a character you can take a first look at in the video below.
The upcoming book also provides a new synopsis for Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget. However, rather than staging a breakout, they're embarking on a break-in this time, a premise we're sure Aardman will have a great deal of fun with.
"Having pulled off a death-defying escape from Tweedy's farm, Ginger has finally found her dream – a peaceful island sanctuary for the whole flock, far from the dangers of the human world. When she and rooster Rocky hatch a little girl called Molly, Ginger's happy ending seems complete."
"But back on the mainland the whole of chicken-kind faces a new and terrible threat. For Ginger and her team, even if it means putting their own hard-won freedom at risk - this time, they're breaking in."
Stay tuned for updates on Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget as have them.
