Superman: Red Son is an acclaimed comic book mini-series from 2003 written by Mark Millar which takes place in an alternate universe in which the Last Son of Krypton landed in the midst of the Soviet Union rather than Smallville, Kansas.
This run is set to be adapted into an animated movie by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and director Sam Liu — who also helmed
The Death of Superman and
Reign of the Supermen — which were similarly based on popular Superman stories from DC Comics. Bruce Timm and Sam Register executive producer — they're best known for
Batman: The Animated Series and
Teen Titans GO! respectively.
Jason Isaacs (
Star Trek: Discovery) plays the titular hero, Amy Acker (
The Gifted) plays Lois Lane, Diedrich Bader (
Harley Quinn) plays Lex Luthor, Vanessa Marshall (
Star Wars Rebels) plays Wonder Woman, Phil Morris (
Doom Patrol) plays James Olsen, and Roger Craig Smith (
Batman Ninja) plays Batman. Superman: Red Son also included countless other talented voice actors and popular characters.
Recently, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment released the very first official trailer for the upcoming
Superman: Red Son animated movie (via
IGN) which allows us our first look at the iconic DC Comics storyline in animation. Check it out below:
