Sonic the Hedgehog races into theatres on February 14th and the Super Bowl will take place on February 2nd. So, it doesn't come as a surprise that the latter will feature a TV spot in promotion of the former.
Paramount Pictures has released the Super Bowl LIV TV spot online ahead of its official small-screen debut on Sunday — and you can check it out below (via
Entertainment Access).
The awesome, new TV spot begins with appearances by multiple well-known athletes — those being Michael Thomas of the New Orleans Saints, Christian McCaffrey of the Carolina Panthers, Olympic gold medalist Allyson Felix, and NASCAR driver Kyle Busch. They're all singing the praises of Sonic the Hedgehog and his unmatched speed.
Following this, we're shown a bunch of action-packed, new footage that includes the titular speedster taking on Dr. Robotnik — in what appears to be a big, climactic battle. There's also a funny, new moment featuring Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik alongside Agent Stone (via

Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
