For years fans of anime and cartoons have thrilled themselves by attending the
Animation Block Festival hosted in Brooklyn at the
BAMCinematek, and things will be no different this year. In fact, with fifteen years under its belt and this being the anniversary, fans can only expect the fun and action to ramp up.
For the new content, the event consists of numerous programs of animated short films that are broken down into multiple categories which sees a very nice range. The
Student Films and Independent Animators section will serve up shorts ranging from things like
Logboy, where "a woodsman is pestered mercilessly by a boy made out of logs" to films like
Adventure in which "a girl is searching for a dragon seeking revenge."
Other content categories are
Experimental Films, Graphic Design, Music Videos, International Shorts, Animation for Kids, Narrative Works, Studio Shorts, Local Films, and
Female Animators. Each of the categories has a wide selection and you can read the synopses for all of the short films
here.
As it is the 30th anniversary of
Akira, it will be screening on Saturday at 9 PM. Fans can also watch
Pokemon Heroes earlier on Saturday, which came out 15 years ago, 1967's
Mad Monster Party, and the NYC debut of
MFKZ.
The 15th Annual Animation Block Party will take place this Thursday, July 26th through Sunday, July 29th at the BAMCinematek in Brooklyn, New York. Will you be attending?
