Bob's Burgers will be making the jump to the big screen next summer. Disney has officially confirmed a release date for a film based on the popular adult cartoon series (as well as that of many other projects).
According to Disney's recently unveiled release schedule (via
IndieWire), the
Bob's Burgers movie is currently set to debut in theatres on July 17th, 2020. The film was ordered back in 2017, this is essentially all we've heard about the project since then. Here's what the show's creator, Loren Bouchard, had to say about it back when it was first announced:
We're thrilled to be invited to bring Bob's Burgers to the big screen. We know the movie has to scratch every itch the fans of the show have ever had, but it also has to work for all the good people who've never seen the show. We also know it has to fill every inch of the screen with the colors and the sounds and the ever so slightly greasy texture of the world of Bob's - but most of all it has to take our characters on an epic adventure. In other words, it has to be the best movie ever made. But no pressure, right?!
If you're unfamiliar with the series, as you'd expect based on the name, it follows a man by the name of Bob who runs a burger store with his wife and children. The comedy series has earned multiple awards in its time on air, most notably two the Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program (which it won twice, in 2014 and 2017).
The show airs regularly on FOX. It's currently within its ninth season, though has been renewed for a tenth. Disney acquired the show the same is it did the rest of 20th Century Fox just months ago.
The Bob's Burgers movie is set to arrive in theatres on July 17th, 2020.
