Since and prior to the release of Overwatch back in 2016, Blizzard Entertainment has released a plethora of exciting animated shorts which have provided fans with a glimpse into the futuristic world and at the tantalising story that the game revolves around. The longest one yet was recently released at BlizzCon with the announcement of Overwatch 2 — you can check it out below.

With the Overwatch animated shorts and the game itself bursting with narrative content, it comes as no surprise that many have considered the possibility of an Overwatch feature film. Game Informer recently sat down with, the director of both Overwatch 2 and its popular predecessor, Jeff Kaplan.

The site asked Kaplan whether he's had any conversations about an Overwatch movie eventually being made, he had this to say (via Gamefragger): "I have had my fair share of conversations about an Overwatch movie."

Kaplan was also asked whether, if such a movie were to be put into production, it would be live-action or animated. The game director made it clear that he absolutely adores the idea of an animated feature film based on the Overwatch franchise. "I would really love to see an animated Overwatch movie," said Kaplan. "That would really warm my heart."
