Mortal Kombat may not have ever fared particularly well on the big screen but it conitinues to do well in the world of video games and even comic books. Warner Bros. purchased Midway back in 2009 and while we've been hearing rumblings about a live-action movie for what feels like forever, it's now being reported that the franchise is getting its own animated feature.

According to Revenge of the Fans, Joel McHale (Community) has landed a secret role in what will presumably be a direct to home video release, while he'll be joined by Dexter's Jennifer Carpenter (who has worked with Warner Bros. Animation before when she voiced Selina Kyle in Batman: Gotham By Gaslight).

That's not all, though, as we also have what the site claims is the full cast list!
  • Darin DePaul
  • Fred Tatasciore
  • Grey Griffin
  • Ike Amadi
  • Kevin Michael Richardson
  • Patrick Seitz
  • Robin Atkin Downes
  • Steve Blum
  • Jordan Rodrigues
Seitz has voiced Scorpion for the new Mortal Kombat games, while Steve Blum is best known for playing Sub-Zero in recent years. As for the rest of them, your guess is as good as ours right now!

There are even rumblings that the animated movie could be a two-parter and that's exciting news for fans of this franchise. With any luck, an official announcement is coming but, for now, be sure to let us know what you make of this report in the comments section.
