Last week, filmmaker Kevin Smith revealed that David Uslan, the son of Batman franchise producer Michael Uslan, had filled him in on now-scrapped plans for a Batman Beyond movie to follow The Flash

Last year, the trades reported that had Michael Keaton stuck around, the plan was to follow Batgirl with Batman Beyond (Michelle Pfeiffer was even expected to reprise her role as Selina Kyle/Catwoman). However, Smith believed the movie hinged on The Flash's success and suggested it's no longer being made because that's bombed.

Now, David has taken to Instagram to debunk those claims, addressing a fan asking if the image below is about Smith's comments. He said, "That's one," in response, suggesting there are at least a couple of bogus rumours doing the rounds he's not happy with.

We'd assume he's also referring to the story Warner Bros. wanted to enlist Christian Bale for The Flash, a subject Smith has since said he was misquoted on.

However, the Clerks director seemed displeased with Michael debunking his comments about Batman Beyond as he'd later take to Twitter @ThatKevinSmith to say, "he needs to shut down his son David, as that’s who told me that story at [The Flash] premiere."

A Batman Beyond movie was definitely in the works at some point, but is no longer happening now DC Studios is rebooting the DCEU as the DCU. Had The Flash been a runaway success, an Elseworlds movie may well have become a reality, but Michael Keaton's Caped Crusader doesn't appear to be a big enough box office draw.

Then again, on a more optimistic note, perhaps Uslan was debunking this because Batman Beyond is still on the way. We doubt it, unfortunately.
