BARBIE Character Posters Reveals The Movie's Barbies And Kens, Including Dua Lipa, Simu Liu, And More

Warner Bros. has released some new Barbie character posters, putting the spotlight on the movie's Barbies, Kens, and human characters. There are some big surprises and startling makeovers to be found...

There have been many animated Barbie movies over the years (the iconic doll even played a role in the Toy Story franchise), but the upcoming live-action effort from Warner Bros. and Mattel has been in the works for some time.

After initially eyeing Amy Schumer to play the title character, the studio turned to Margot Robbie (The Suicide Squad) to put her spin on one of the world's most iconic toys. Greta Gerwig (Little Women) was already attached to direct the movie, of course, and co-wrote the project with her husband Noah Baumbach.

Ryan Gosling (Blade Runner 2049) has been cast as Ken, while Will Ferrell (Anchorman) signed up to play the CEO of a toy company (widely believed to be a spin on Mattel).

Other cast members include Simu Liu, America Ferrera, Ariana Greenblatt, Ncuti Gatwa, Emma Mackey, Alexandra Shipp, Michael Cera, Issa Rae, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Rhea Perlman, and Kate McKinnon.

They, along with several other actors, are highlighted on newly released character posters for Barbie.

It's previously been reported that the movie will feature multiple Barbies and Kens, and that's finally been confirmed. Singer Dua Lipa is an exciting addition to the cast, while Robbie lookalike Emma Mackey is, surprisingly, brunette rather than blonde here (despite that, we've heard the two Barbies will have some funny interactions when they cross paths).

We're assuming a new trailer for Barbie is still coming today, though these posters may be it for now. Finally getting a proper look at all these different characters is an unexpected treat, though we're still unsure how the Barbies, Kens, and humans all interact in what promises to be one of 2023's most unique movies.

You can check out the main poster for the movie below along with the full gallery of character one-sheets.

Barbie will arrive in theaters on July 21, later this year.
