In 2014, co-directors Alexandre Astier and Louis Clichy helmed
Asterix: The Mansions Of The Gods. Besides being the first 3d animated Asterix film, it was also one of the biggest hits at the French box office with 3 million tickets sold. Shortly after, the duo began work on the inevitable sequel.
Unlike
Asterix: The Mansions Of The Gods, which was a direct adaptation of one of the comics,
Asterix: the Secret Of The Magic Potion is based on an original story by Astier. Astier is known for creating the series
Kamellott while Clichy is a talented animator who worked on Pixar's
Wall-E and
Up.
