Forget Toy Story, Finding Nemo and The Incredibles.  For many Pixar fans, Wall-E is still the best feature film to ever come out of the studio.  The story of a trash compactor that finds love when he's left behind on a post-apocalyptic Earth continues to capture young hearts and minds to this day.

In looking back at what makes the film so special, director Andrew Stanton told EW, "Wall-E was so eclectic in what he was interested in because he’s just searching through the detritus of humanity, it could be whatever I wanted.  Once I knew it’s going to be this musical, we could be specific about that being something he watched."

Stanton is making reference to the robot's love of classical musicals, particularly Hello, Dolly!.  In an ironic foreshadowing of current events, the rights to the film and its songs were owned by 20th Century Fox.  Luckily, the Chief Financial Officer at Pixar during that time had previously worked at Fox and was able to cut through all the bureaucracy and work out a deal to use the footage.

Where does Wall-E rank on your list of Pixar films? Let us know in the comment section below.

As for a potential sequel, Jim Morris, Pixar's current president and producer on Wall-E previously let it be known that he loved the world of Wall-E but felt that the story had a resolute beginning, middle, and end.
