If the live-action Amazon adaptation of the Wheel of Time doesn't satisfy your Aes Sedai needs, then you're in luck as there's another adaptation of the beloved Robert Jordan series on the way.
It was recently announced that Thor and X-Men: First Class scribe Zack Stentz has signed on to write the screenplay for an animated prequel, titled The White Tower.
Per Deadline, the film will chronicle the story of, " a young girl with a special gift whose life is forever changed when evil visits her remote mountain village. Finding herself alone in a dangerous world, she must go to The White Tower to learn how to use her magical powers in order to save her family and friends."
Based on the synopsis it sounds as if the film might be an origin story for Siuan Sanche or Moiraine Damodred.
In a press release, Stentz stated, "I have been a lifelong fan of the world Robert Jordan created, particularly The White Tower, which serves the mysterious Aes Sedai sisterhood as a capitol, residence, school, and fortress."
"It was a dream fulfilled to be offered the opportunity to author a new story that takes place within an iconic setting that will be immediately familiar to Jordan fans around the world.”
The animated film is being produced by iwot productions and is being developed as a feature-length animated film in collaboration with Quebec’s Squeeze Studios. There's no word yet on whether the film is headed to Amazon or for a theatrical release.
