Animator Emma (Pei-Hsuan) Shih was trained at the National Yunlin University of Science and Technology in Yunlin County, Taiwan and has worked at Sony Pictures Imageworks for the last 4 years. In addition to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, her credits include DreamWorks Dragons: Riders of Berk, Happy Feet 2, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars (season 1-3). The below video is currently going viral and features Shih filming her own reference videos for the scenes she worked on in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
The Academy Award winning film is currently available on digital and blu-ray and
will be added to Netflix on June 26.
Recently, the film's directors discussed the
influence of anime on the project, which apparently extended to hiring Far East-trained animators like Shih.
