After setting several records last weekend, across the 5-day Thanksgiving holiday, Zootopia 2 is continuing its hot streak at the global box office (and particularly in China) in weekend number two.
The film grossed another $43 million at the North American box office this weekend, and another (jaw-dropping) $219 million from international markets, for a total worldwide weekend gross of $262 million.
Zootopia 2 now stands at $915.8 million worldwide after just 1.5 weeks of release! Some analysts are predicting that the film could finish its global box office run at $1.5-$2 billion.
The popularity of the Zootopia franchise in China can't be understated, thanks to a Zootopia-themed land at the Shanghai Disney Resort, and the clever way that Disney leveraged the film's animal themes to align with the Chinese zodiac.
As such, the film currently has a much higher gross in China ($430.4 million) than it does in the U.S. and Canada ($220.4 million).
With such gargantuan box office numbers, Zootopia 3 should be on the fast track at Disney, and if you want to learn where the franchise is headed next, CLICK HERE to read what the film's end credit stinger means for the franchise moving forward.
