Disney’s The Owl House isn’t going to get an extended Season 3 nor will it see a Season 4, it seems. During a livestream, showrunner Dana Terrace spilled the beans that it’s too late for an extended season. So far, no news about a Season 4 has crept up, meaning this series, which fostered a large LGBTQ+ audience, is in the void.
All hope isn’t lost, though, as Terrace calls on the community to continue to support the series as it’s not impossible to see a spin-off series, shorts, or comics come to fruition, effectively continuing the franchise.
Many fans are confused as to why The Owl House is getting this treatment as fans have poured their heart out for this show and holds a following, as opposed to a niche cult following. Its ratings both by critics and fans have been stellar on sites like Rotten Tomatoes.
This news has stirred up users mentioning how this par for the course of series seeking to add diversity to a series. That said, some theorize this could be because of The Ghost and Molly McGee also housing an LGBTQ+ protagonist and Disney may not want to air multiple shows that feature LGBTQ+ characters at the same time. To be clear, though, none of that is confirmed, it’s just speculation.
Some of the level-headed fans out there don’t believe it’ll need an extended season provided it offers up a good ending and plenty of fans expect it will wrap up properly.
