The first full trailer for Disney's live-action remake of The Little Mermaid is set to premiere during the Oscars later tonight, but if you're the impatient type, we have a little sneak peek of what to expect thanks to a leaked clip.
It's not the best quality, but the footage does give us a first proper glimpse of Melissa McCarthy as evil sea witch, Ursula, as she makes Ariel (Halle Bailey) an offer she can't refuse.
The clip also confirms that the villain's eel lackeys, Flotsam and Jetsam, will appear.
Check out the video below, along with a first look at the Daughters of Triton toy set.
Bailey and McCarthy star alongside Javier Bardem as King Triton, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, and Awkwafina as Scuttle.
The Little Mermaid will feature music from the animated classic as well as four new songs. Lin-Manuel Miranda, who previously worked with Marshall on Mary Poppins Returns, will also compose original music for Mermaid along with Alan Menken.
The Little Mermaid is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters, and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy.
The movie is set to swim into theaters on May 26, 2023.
