Disney fans have been waiting a long time to see some new footage from the Mouse House's live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, and a full trailer finally debuted tonight during the Academy Awards.

This latest teaser focuses on Ariel (Halle Bailey) making a deal with the evil Ursula (Melissa McCarthy), which will allow her to grow legs and make her way to dry land and track down her true love... at the expense of her voice.

We also get a first proper look at Scuttle, Flounder, and Sebastian.

Bailey and McCarthy star alongside Javier Bardem as King Triton, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, and Awkwafina as Scuttle.

The Little Mermaid will feature music from the animated classic as well as four new songs. Lin-Manuel Miranda, who previously worked with Marshall on Mary Poppins Returns, will also compose original music for Mermaid along with Alan Menken.

The Little Mermaid is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters, and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy.

The movie is set to swim into theaters on May 26, 2023.
