SNOW WHITE: Surprising New Details Emerge About Disney's Controversial Approach To "The Seven Dwarfs"

Disney's Snow White remake has recently come under fire for its unorthodox approach to The Seven Dwarfs, and a new report claims to reveal how this movie is putting a fresh spin on the iconic characters.

While Disney fans are definitely excited about the studio's live-action Snow White remake, the movie is one that's largely flown under the radar until fairly recently.

The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb is at the helm, while West Side Story and Shazam! Fury of the Gods breakout Rachel Zegler plays the title character. As for the Evil Queen, Wonder Woman's Gal Gadot is lending her talents to one of Disney's most iconic villains, and she's promised to show us a new side of herself here.

Despite the original Snow White being a beloved Disney classic, none of those early movies have aged particularly well in the decades since first being released. The world was a different place then, and we heard early on that this remake might not include the Seven Dwarfs.

You'd think Disney could have found a way to portray them in a non-offensive manner, but set photos recently revealed a group consisting of one little person and a number of diverse male and female actors of regular stature.

The backlash was immediate and vocal, with Disney being criticised for its "PC" approach to these iconic characters.

Now, a reliable scooper has shed new light on this team, revealing that Snow White's new saviours are called the "Bandits." They sound very much like Robin Hood's Merry Men, while one of their members is seemingly replacing Prince Ferdinand as the title character's love interest.

We're clearly getting a very loose adaptation of the original Snow White and that's bound to be problematic for a lot of fans. Disney has struggled when it comes to its remakes, either delivering shot-for-shot remakes (The Lion King) or delivering new interpretations that lose much of what made the cartoons so well-loved (Mulan).

Snow White is set to be released in theaters on March 22, 2024.

@Amuro - I really wonder what the Brother Grimm would say about the people in charge at Disney. I'm pretty sure they would have an interesting choice of words to describe how they feel insulted.
