Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?
Rachel Zegler, who has been cast as Snow White in Disney's upcoming live-action adaptation of the animated classic film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
The 20-year-old actress is a longtime Disney fan and celebrated the casting announcement by sharing memories of herself dressed as Snow White at Disney World.
Marc Webb, whose credits include 500 Days of Summer and The Amazing Spider-Man with Andrew Garfield, will direct the movie with production on the still-untitled film slated to begin sometime in 2022. In addition to praising her vocal abilities, Webb also pointed to Zegler's "strength, intelligence, and optimism" which will play an integral part in bringing the character of Snow White to life in this live-action fairytale.
“Rachel’s extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts. Her strength, intelligence and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairytale."
While it will probably be quite some time before we see Zegler as the iconic Disney princess, fans can catch her big screen debut this December in West Side Story, where she will play the character of Maria in Steven Speilberg's retelling of the classic musical. Despite having no major acting credits, Zegler beat out more than 30,000 actresses for the lead role of Maria while she was still just a 17-year-old high schooler. Zegler is also set to appear in DC's superhero sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
