THR reports that actor/comedian Zach Galifianakis (Between Two Ferns, The Hangover) has closed a deal to star in the film. Though the trade doesn't reveal any details on his role, we've heard that he'll actually be playing Pleakley, the alien who pursues Stitch along with his creator Dr. Jumba Jookiba.
Crazy Rich Asians filmmaker Jon M. Chu was originally in negotiations to helm the project, Dean Fleischer Camp (Marcel the Shell With Shoes On) will now direct.

Lilo & Stitch tells the story of a young Hawaiian girl named Lilo Pelekai who forms a bond with a blue alien called Experiment 626, who was engineered to be a force of destruction. It wasn't considered one of the Mouse House's bigger hits from a box office standpoint, but it remains a very popular entry in Disney's library, having spawned three direct-to-video sequels and a 2003 TV series.
