Disney has released the first trailer for Encanto, the latest CG-nimated film from Walt Disney Animation Studios.
Vibrant, colorful, and full of fantastical magic, Encanto takes us to a wondrous village hidden in the moutntains of Colombia. It his here where we meet the Madrigal family, an extraordinary family where each member possesses a special gift, like super-strength, shapeshifting, or plant growth. Well, everyone except for Mirabel (Stephanie Beatriz), an ordinary 15-year-old who appears to be just plain ordinary.
“Mirabel is a really funny, loving character who also deeply yearns for something more,” says Stephanie Beatriz, the voice of Mirabel. “She’s also not afraid to stand up for what she knows is right—something I love and relate to very much."
While the plot synopsis is rather vague, it's not hard to imagine the lessons this film will teach — something along the lines of accepting yourself as you are and believing that you are special no matter what.
From the rhythmic, upbeat music to the bright, vibrant colors, Encanto looks like a spectacular journey. As if that weren't enough to grab your attention, the film will also feature original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who also wrote the songs for 2016's animated film Moana. Of course, Miranda is known for plenty of other hits as well, including Hamilton, In the Heights, and more.
Encanto is set to hit theaters on November 24, and there don't appear to be any plans for the film to release simultaneously on Disney+.
