Artificial Intelligence can be frightening thanks largely in part to the Science Fiction genre, and it is a big part of what is holding up the strike with the Screen Actors Guild (in addition to streaming revenues), yet the technology doesn't only hold negative prospects, with a look at photorealistic versions of cartoon characters being offered to animation lovers.
Brazilian artist Hidreley Leli Dião has shared with the internet what some Disney and Simpsons characters would look like when rendered photorealistic utilizing the power of AI. While fans of the Springfield residents will be excited to see what Homer's family and friends look like in live-action, there are also glimpses into what characters from animated flicks like Soul, Encanto, and even classic titular heroes like Aladdin and Mulan would look like without even having actors cast in the roles
The artist has a full gallery of cartoons, anime, toys, and other objects (such as the Statue of Liberty and paintings) transformed into life-like versions on their Instagram, but we have collected a number of the images for you to check out here below, starting with a photorealistic version of the inimitable Ned Flanders. While we have also included Millhouse, the majority of the characters below will be recognized from various Disney projects such as Up, Soul, and Encanto. The latter is a great example of how Mirabel looks even more like her character than her similar-looking voice actress Stephanie Beatriz does.
From the popular characters like Elsa and Anna from Frozen to past heroines such as Olive Oil, there is a wide variety of cartoons knocking on the photorealistic door in this extensive gallery with anime characters such as Naruto even finding their mix with the Disney+ inhabitants, leaving a little something for just about everyone in the mix-up. But what do you guys think? Which of these characters that we've included in our roundup do you find to be the most photorealistic of the bunch? Be sure to check out the rest of the work on the artist's Instagram to see more popular AI renderings here and be sure to share your thoughts in the comments section as always!
You can see how both Jasmine, pictured above, and her titular counterpart Aladdin, who is included in the gallery below both look much more like their cartoon counterparts than the live-action actors who portrayed the couple in the Will Smith-led big screen adaptation by Disney.
