There hasn't been a whole lot of marketing for Disney's Wish to date, but a new TV spot has made it's way online, via Twitter. The new footage reportedly comes via an ad Disney is running on Facebook to promote the film.
This is the first new footage for the film since the official trailer dropped back in April.
Wish takes place in the enchanted realm of Rosas, where visitors from all around come to ask the King for wishes. But the King is not who he appears to be on the surface, and the wishes he grants frequently have unanticipated consequences. When Asha (voiced by Hamilton standout Ariana DeBose) grants a wish, she unintentionally starts a series of events that will drastically alter the course of the kingdom.
The film is said to recount the origin of the Disney wishing star and will have ties to every Disney Animation film that involves someone making a wish.
Wish is directed by Chris Buck (Frozen) and Fawn Veerasunthorn (Raya and the Last Dragon), and written by Jennifer Lee (Frozen 2) and Allison Moore (Manhunt).
The movie examines the power of wishes and the importance of using them wisely. It also teaches the need of having self-confidence and never giving up on your goals. Wish is sure to be a touching and motivational Disney Animation film that is likely to move viewers of all ages.
In “Wish,” Asha, a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force—a little ball of boundless energy called Star.
Together, Asha and Star confront a most formidable foe—the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico—to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.
Featuring the voices of Academy Award®-winning actor Ariana DeBose as Asha, Chris Pine as Magnifico, and Alan Tudyk as Asha’s favorite goat, Valentino, the film is helmed by Oscar-winning director Chris Buck (“Frozen,” “Frozen 2”) and Fawn Veerasunthorn (“Raya and the Last Dragon”), produced by Peter Del Vecho (“Frozen,” “Frozen 2”) and co-produced by Juan Pablo Reyes (“Encanto”).
Jennifer Lee (“Frozen,” “Frozen 2”) executive produces, and also co-wrote the script alongside Allison Moore (“Night Sky,” “Manhunt”).
With original songs by Grammy®-nominated singer/songwriter Julia Michaels and Grammy-winning producer/songwriter/musician Benjamin Rice, plus score by composer Dave Metzger.
Wish opens only in theaters on Nov. 22, 2023.
