Walt Disney Animation Studios' Strange World received its first teaser trailer this week, taking us past space and time and to a place of infinite mystery. "Prepare yourself for a journey beyond what is possible," the trailer begins, giving off a retro sci-fi B-movie vibe.
Strange World features the voice of Jake Gyllenhaal (Spider-Man: Far From Home) as Searcher Clade, the son of a steadfast explorer. The film follows the legendary Clades, a family of explorers, on a crucial mission that takes them to an uncharted and treacherous land.
We only get a glimpse of this mysterious new world which is filled with bright colors and strange alien lifeforms. Can the Clades overcome their differences to complete their mission?
Strange World is helmed by Don Hall, the Oscar-winning director of Big Heart 6. He also directed 2021's Raya and the Last Dragon. It's co-directed and written by Qui Nguyen, co-writer of Raya and the Last Dragon, and produced by Roy Conli (Big Hero 6, Tangled).
Strange Worlds invites moviegoers to a place of infinite mystery on November 23, 2022. It will be Walt Disney Animation Studios' first feature film since 2021's crticially acclaimed Encanto which performed well in theaters but was ultimately cut short due to COVID-19 and sent to Disney+ where it exploded in popularity. If you're looking to blast into space sooner, Pixar's Lightyear flies into theaters on June 17, 2022.
