WarnerMedia has been on the prowl to bolster its kids demographic and one such venture is its upcoming HBO Max series, Aquaman: King of Atlantis. Following the exploits of everyone's favorite DC punching bag, this series takes more a of comedy approach compared others out there.
The pilot episode sees Aquaman just crowned after defeating his half-brother, Ocean Master, in ritual combat. He is then forced to prove he's worthy, given he's an outsider to the citizens of Atlantis. Luckily, he isn't alone and his royal adviser, Vulko has just the job to prove his worth -- investigate a long-since-MIA outpost. Of course, it sounds like Ocean Master isn't through being king, constantly trying to overthrow him in ritual combat.
Aquaman: King of Atlantis features an all-star cast including Shazam! and The Walking Dead's Cooper Andrews as the titular protagonist. By his side is Reno 911's Thomas Lennon as Vulko, and one-off Star Trek: Lower Decks guest, Gillian Jacobs, as Mera. To compete for the throne, Ocean Master is portrayed by The Ghost and Molly McGee star, Dana Snyder.
Each episode releases on a different day, with its debut episode, Chapter One: Dead Sea, launching on October 14. Chapter Two: Primordeus follows it on October 21 and its final chapter, Chapter Three: Tidal Shift, caps it off on October 28.
