Ubisoft's outrageously offensive superhero adventure
South Park: The Fractured But Whole, a sequel to 2014's
South Park: The Stick of Truth, arrived today on Nintendo Switch. In the game, players once again assume the role of the New Kid and join Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman on a new hilarious RPG adventure.
In The Fractured But Whole, crime is on the rise in South Park, and the streets have never been more dangerous. As the sun sets on the quiet Colorado town, terror, havoc, and chaos are unleashed as the seedy underbelly of the city comes alive. The town needs new heroes to come to the rescue. Eric Cartman seizes the opportunity to save the town and create the best superhero franchise ever, his own Coon and Friends, with himself, The Coon, as the leader.
Inspired by the beloved animated series, the game was written and directed by the sho'ws actual creators Trey Parker and Matter Stone. As such it contains plenty of great references to many of
South Park's inappropriate jokes and gags, as well as iconic characters and locations.
In addition to the base game, the first two pieces of add-on content,
"Danger Deck" and
"From Dusk Till Casa Bonita," are also available for purchase either separately or as part of the season pass. In
Danger Deck players are transported to never-before-sene locations in
South Park to fight enemy encounters custom-crafted by the Freedom Pals. In
From Dusk Till Casa Bonita, Mysterion's sister finds herself in trouble, fallen in with the Vamp Kids, who have descended upon Cartman's favorite resaurant, Casa Bonita. It is here where players will need to fight darkness with darkness and embrass the new Netherborn class. The third piece of add-on content,
"Bring the Crunch," will be available for Nintendo Switch when it releases this summer.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole is available on Nintendo's console/handheld hybrid. As such, you can choose to play on the couch or literally take it with you on the go.
As for the actual show, Trey Parker and Matt Stone have confirmed
South Park will return for a 22nd season, likely premiering in September 2018.
