With more mature animated shows hitting their strides such as South Park, Rick, and Morty, and Archer, TV networks have started to see a greater value in animation on all fronts, and because of this, they have started their own late-night animation blocks. The SYFY Channel, best known for their more out of this world programming, has decided to join in the craze with their animation block TZGZ.
Much like its contemporaries, TZGZ is an animation block that brings in various creators to release shows or skits like Hell Den, Purgatony, and Science! TZGZ has had a fantastic reception from viewers, and now it looks like Christmas has come early in the form of a new show!
The Pole is a brand new series that stars Bobby Moynihan and Jillian Bell as the new Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Playing up the business and office politics, the series takes a much more mature tone than any average holiday style cartoon. As of now, the show has been greenlit for six episodes, but fans will still have to be a little patient as the premiere won't be until next year.
With more shows coming to TZGZ, Adult Swim could have some friendly competition on their hands! We would love to hear your thoughts on the new show in the comments below!
After a scandal involving “Saint” Nick (Moynihan) rocks the holly jolly foundations of the North Pole, all hell breaks loose as the future of Christmas turns into a twisted power struggle for the Red Suit. As Nick, the 20th to wear the Suit, struggles with the age-old question of naughty vs. nice, his wife Mrs. Claus, a.k.a. Gretchen (Bell), works to keep the political machine that is toy production afloat. It isn’t easy as they juggle the factory elves, including Nick’s head elf Matilda (Byer) and the political activist Helenor (Zamata), as well as parenting two sons – Nick’s mini-me Harry (Cho) and the crown prince, Jack (Simons), who’s not only next in line for the Suit, but also looking to rebrand it. Reporting on all the drama in The Pole? Cocoa (Jost), host of the North Pole News Network Program, “Morning Cocoa.”
The Pole is coming to SYFY's TZGZ in 2021!
