We have good and bad news for fans of Disney+'s acclaimed Star Wars animated series, The Bad Batch. During day 3 of Star Wars Celebration Europe, it was announced that the show will return for a third season... but it will be its last.
“I can say that the story's not over," the show's writer, Jennifer Corbett, confirmed during the panel. "The Bad Batch will be back for a third and final season."
Spoilers for the season 2 finale follow.
The second season of The Bad Batch concluded with the loss of one of the team, Tech, who sacrificed himself in order to allow the rest of the squad to escape. Though his death did appear to be pretty definitive, some fans are hopeful that he may have survived his fall. But based on what was said during today's panel, we'd say Tech's days are well and truly numbered!
The remaining members of Clone Force 99 will return, and the brief teaser that screened at the panel (it hasn't been released online) revealed that The Mandalorian character Fennec Shand will be joining them.
Here's a description of the trailer via Screen Rant.
"The central team are refusing to give up. Palpatine and his guards visit Mount Tantiss, declaring the facility's importance and stressing how it must remain secure. Experiments are shown being conducted on Omega, who refuses to give up on Crosshair. He's shown to be frustrated, insisting "I'm not them." While there seemed to be a shot of Cody in The Bad Batch season 3 footage, the most exciting glimpse at a character was of Fennec Shand. Additionally, an action scene shows a Sarlacc-like creature grabbing the Batch's ship, with Wrecker dropping a grenade in its mouth to make it let go."
