For the second year in a row, Marvel Studios will be absent at San Diego Comic-Con, however, the television and comic book side of the publisher's brand will still have their usual presence. That includes Sony's animated
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse flick, which will be part of the studio's Hall H presentation alongside Tom Hardy's
Venom.
Exclusive footage from both films will be shown on Friday, July 20 at 6:15 PM.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is directed by the trio of veteran storyboard artist Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey (Rise of the Guardians director), and Rodney Rothman (22 Jump Street screenwriter).
Phil Lord (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The LEGO Movie) penned the script.
Shameik Moore (The Geto Down) voices Miles Morales, leading a voice cast that includes Hailee Steinfeld (Spider-Gwen), Mahershala Ali (Miles' uncle and Marvel villain, The Prowler), Jake Johnson (Peter Parker) and Liev Schreiber (Kingpin).
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse hits theaters on December 14, where it will do battle with
Mortal Engines (December 14),
Aquaman (December 21),
Bumblee (December 21),
Alita: Battle Angel (December 21), and
Mary Poppins Returns (December 25).
