Celebrating his 30th anniversary this year, Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog not only starred in one of the top-grossing movies of 2020, but in 2022 will be returning to television in a new streaming series from Netflix, Sonic Prime. The first season will be made up of 24 episodes, and it’s coming from Wildbrain, the studio behind The Snoopy Show on Apple+ and Carmen Sandiego, which aired on Netflix as well. Creating and showrunning the series is the force behind Ben 10, Man of Action Entertainment.
Part of the official announcement reads, “The 24-episode animated adventure for kids, families and long-time fans draws upon the keystones of the brand and features the ‘Blue Blur’ of video game fame in a high-octane adventure where the fate of a strange new multiverse rests in his gloved hands. Sonic’s adventure is about more than a race to save the universe. It’s a journey of self-discovery and redemption.”

Previous Sonic animated television series are Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (1993), Sonic the Hedgehog (1993 to 1994), Sonic Underground (1999), Sonic X (2003 to 2006), Sonic Boom (2014 to 2017) and, of course, Sonic Prime in 2022.
