We may have some potentially good news for fans of Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog, as it seems that there is still hope for a brand-new TV show based on the iconic, and beloved video game character to be produced.

During an interview that took place earlier this year but was recently published, Sega's Director of Animation Yukio Kusumoto revealed that he believes the world is ready for a brand-new TV show based on the Sonic the Hedgehog series.

"I think the world is definitely ready for another TV show, and I would love to work on it. There are several discussions and this is coming from me personally [...] I would love Sonic to continue, so I'll keep trying to put more stuff out there," revealed Kusumoto.

Sega has seen a lot of success with the Sonic Mania Adventures and Team Sonic Racing Overdrive miniseries; both shows that were produced to promote the release of Sonic Mania Plus and Team Sonic Racing video games, respectively.

Now that we're close to the release of the Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie, and with fans clamouring for more animated series in the same vein of the promotional miniseries Sega has released, chances for a brand-new, and full-fledged Sonic the Hedgehog TV show are pretty high. Fingers crossed.
