Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is set to premiere in September. The new animated series features the same familiar characters - Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo - but our heroes in a half-shell (and their friends) have been somewhat reimagined.

Along with some new looks, our heroes will have some brand new moves, powers, weapons, and one-liners. The video below introduces us to the updated versions of Raph (Omar Benson Miller), Leo (Ben Schwartz), Donnie (Josh Brener), and Mikey (Brandon Mychal Smith).

While there are certainly some noticeable differences that'll take some getting used to, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles looks to keep the franchise's signature humor and action at the forefront.

Season one of the animated series is slated to debut on Monday, September 17, with a global rollout set to premiere this fall across Nickelodeon's channels. Using their newfound powers, the brothers will battle "absurd mutants and bizarre villains," including WWE superstar John Cena's villainous Baron Draxum and Lena Heady's mutant spider Big Mama. Nickelodeon has already renewed Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for a 26-episode second season that will follow the brothers "as they discover new powers and encounter a mystical world they never knew existed beneath the streets of New York City."
