Game Freak and Nintendo have really been killing it lately with the release of the highly anticipated
Pokémon Sword and
Pokémon Shield — the latest entries i nthe long-running
Pokémon series — as it's been reported that the games are doing great in Japan and the United Kingdom.
Over the last few days, we have reported that
Pokémon Sword had become the best-selling game in the United Kingdom this week, surpassing
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and taking the number 1 spot from
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
In Japan, it was reported that both
Pokémon Sword and
Pokémon Shield had sold almost one million and a half of copies within the first three days since the games launched, making it the best-selling game of the year in Japan.
Today, The Pokémon Company has revealed that within one week,
Pokémon Sword and
Pokémon Shield have become the biggest Nintendo Swith launch to date; with an impressive 6 million units sold worldwide.
What's even more interesting is that these titles have managed to take the record from
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which had sold an equally impressive 5 million units worldwide. Our hts are off to you, Game Freak and Nintendo.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be set in Galar, an expansive region with many environments—idyllic countryside, contemporary cities, thick forests, and craggy, snow-covered mountains. The people and Pokémon live together in this region, and they’ve worked together to develop the industries here.
