There have been many Legendary and Mythical Pokémon released throughout the eight Generations since
Pokémon Red and
Pokémon Green (Blue). The truth remains, however, that despite their increasing numbers and the many strong beasts that have joined the ranks over the years that Mewtwo still ranks near the top of the list if not in the number one spot in the eyes of most long-time Trainers.
Its possible that the wave of nostalgia induced by this pocket monster has something to do with that as it was a Legendary Pokémon who debuted all the way back in the Kanto region in 1996. Or maybe it could be the fact that this creature was the antagonist of Pokémon's very first film -
Mewtwo Strikes Back. Either way, the hype for this creature has failed to wane over the years since his introduction. Just last year it was featured in
Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back - Evolution as well as
Detective Pikachu so fans clearly are still big on the creature.
Niantic, the developer behind the mobile game sensation
Pokémon Go (who's popularity
also hasn't waned) is bringing the Legendary Pokémon back to their title. And not just any Mewtwo either - fans will see Armored Mewtwo "striking back" via 5-Star Raids, the toughest of the bunch. There is a short teaser released for this event which is included below.
