Pokémon series developer Game Freak is currently under fire, as fans have recently found out that the developer has reused some assets in the soon-to-be-released
Pokémon Sword and
Pokémon Shield; and players are simply not having any of it.
The information actually comes from a post on Reddit by user
u/MindWeb125, who revealed that Game Freak was reusing character models for the Pokémon in the highly anticipated title. This may not be that much of a problem if it wasn't for the fact that Game Freak wasn't transparent about it.
Just a few days ago, Game Freak also confirmed that
Pokémon Sword and
Pokémon Shield will not feature the entirety of the Pokédex; causing fans of the long-running Pocket Monster series to voice their discontent on social media, and the reuse of assets seems to be the cherry on top.
Initial sales for
Pokémon Sword and
Pokémon Shield may not be affected at all by fan outrage, but word of mouth could end up playing a key role in this whole fiasco that has fans turning their backs on the developer, the
Pokémon series, and the upcoming title.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be set in Galar, an expansive region with many environments—idyllic countryside, contemporary cities, thick forests, and craggy, snow-covered mountains. The people and Pokémon live together in this region, and they’ve worked together to develop the industries here.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be available for the Nintendo Switch on the 15th of November.
