A couple of illustrations from Pre-Gen 1 of the long-running Pokémon series have recently resurfaced, giving us a look at Godzillante and Gorillaimo; two Pokémon that were never added into the final versions of the original Pokémon Red, Pokémon Green, and Pokémon Blue.

First things first, we will address the big elephant in the room: yes, the Godzillante Pokémon, much like its name very appropriately suggest, was based on Godzilla, while Gorillaimo was based on King Kong.

Both Godzillante and Gorillaimo were designed by Pokémon Lead Designer Ken Sugimori, who intended for these Pokémon to help programmers with the development of the game's gameplay mechanics; none of these Pokémon were ever intended to be part of the final product.

Thanks to DeviantArt user the-fake-dexter, who has recreated these unused Pokémon to make them look like part of the games, we can now have an idea of what Godzillante and Gorillaimo would've looked like in Pokémon Red, Green, and Blue if they had been included.
